THE RANDY BURDICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Overview
The Randy Burdick Memorial Basketball Scholarship was established to honor the tremendous impact of long-time Outlaw basketball and baseball coach Randy Burdick. Coach Burdick deeply cared about his players and taught them the importance of discipline, courage and work-ethic. A fighter to the end, Randy passed away from cancer in 2021. This scholarship will go to applicants who participated in the Outlaw Basketball program (specifically that played on the varsity team in their senior year) and demonstrated the same tireless work-ethic as Coach Burdick.
Randy Burdick grew up in Oakridge, Oregon, which is where his love of sports began. He played baseball, basketball and football. He was an all-star baseball player. He also played basketball at Lane Community College. In 1976, in Oakridge, Randy met the love of his life, Mary. They relocated to Springfield with their five children. This is when his love for landscaping began. In 1990, Randy and Mary moved to Sisters, to the property they purchased, which the family called “The Canyon.” Moving to Sisters was his dream. Randy had an amazing work ethic and was very passionate about everything he did. He owned and operated his own business, R&M Landscaping and General Contractors, also farming 10 acres of his property. Randy coached at Sisters High School for over 20 years. He was the Head JV Coach for basketball, as well as coaching baseball, football and lacrosse. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with wife, kids, and grandchildren.Scholarship Award
